One thing you should know about me as an Arizona Elopement Photographer? I am down for just about anything. Rock climbing off the side of a cliff? I’m there. Waking up at the crack of dawn? Absolutely. Sunrise elopements are highly underrated and I have no idea why. Actually, yes I do. Not many people want to wake up at 3-4 am just to tie the knot. However, let me tell you that it is 100% completely and always worth it. Michelle and Bobby had a gorgeous sunrise Sedona elopement at Munds Wagon Trail and it was the epitome of sunrise elopements. We’re talking all of the golden glow that we love with golden hour without the crowds of people. A win-win in my book tbh.
Bobby and Michelle first connected through social media. Despite him living in Wisconsin and her in Baltimore, just one week later they met face to face. For them, it was love at first sight. At the time, Bobby’s job took him all throughout the country and Michelle was his lucky sidekick. Shortly after, he relocated to Baltimore where Michelle and Bobby’s relationship continued to flourish.
It wasn’t until Bobby’s 30th birthday that a birthday getaway in the mountains for Bobby turned into a surprise proposal for Michelle. Standing on the edge of a cliff, Bobby got to one knee and popped the question. It was a beautiful moment and completely a shock to Michelle. Their son witnessed the entire thing and even took some photos of this special moment to cherish forever.
Ugh, be right back crying right now.
For Michelle and Bobby, it was important that on their wedding day, they focus on them. They really wanted their sunrise Sedona elopement to focus on being present and celebrating this moment with just the two of them. Recentering themselves to where it all began is honestly one of the reasons why I love elopements in the first place.
Woken at the crack of dawn we made our way to Munds Wagon Trail for their sunrise Sedona elopement. Michelle looked insanely beautiful and even wore this phenomenal headpiece that made her look like an actual goddess. I was completely and head over heels in LOVE with her wedding attire. Together during this sunrise Sedona elopement, they exchanged vows and even burnt sage that Michelle had made. Shortly after, they had a celebratory joint before sharing Zinger’s, Bobby’s favorite dessert. Although the party didn’t stop there.
After spending our time at Munds Wagon Trail and taking some gorgeous sunrise Sedona elopement photos, Michelle and Bobby had other plans in mind. They drove down to Phoenix, Arizona where they both got matching tattoos and even got their portraits done on a wet plate at Silver and Cedar. All while in their wedding attire… now if that doesn’t scream the coolest couple ever award, I don’t know what does.
When it comes to having Sunrise Sedona Elopement, there are several benefits. While waking up at 3 am may not be one of them, there is a method to the madness. There is a reason why many couples choose to have a sunrise elopement and here are some of them.
More Privacy & Less Crowds – Most of the time with sunrise elopements, you will find that there are basically no people. This is the case for pretty much any location you go to. Whether you’re at a National Park or a public place. Keep in mind that some places may not allow you to enter that early so just do your research beforehand. If you’re someone who fears being in front of tons of people or a crowd on your wedding day, then having a sunrise elopement may be just what you need.
Cooler Weather – When living in a place that is as hot as Sedona, Arizona it is typically best to have a sunrise elopement, especially with super hot weather. Typically early in the mornings, there is cooler weather and if you’re going on an excursion for your elopement you may not want to do that in 102 degrees. If you value your comfort and temperature for any outdoor elopement, then a sunrise elopement could be your perfect fit.
Spend The Day With Your Partner – Lastly, having a sunrise Sedona elopement allows you to spend the rest of the day with your partner. When getting married so early in the morning you have the rest of the day to do whatever you want. Who doesn’t like all that freedom, you know?
