Merry-Go-Round Rock Sedona Elopement Photos

As an Arizona Elopement Photographer, one of my favorite elopement locations in Sedona has got to be Merry-Go-Round Rock. It’s one of my favorite places for my couples to choose to elope at and when I saw Chella & John’s inquiry come through for their Sedona elopement I couldn’t have been more excited. Their Merry-Go-Round Rock Sedona elopement photos were romantic, emotional, intentional, and downright epic. These are some of my favorite elopement photos I have taken to date and now you finally get to see why!

The Love Story of Chella & John

Honestly, you’d be surprised by how many couples nowadays are meeting over dating apps. I mean frankly so many couples are now connecting through Tinder and various dating apps and you know, to each their own. Whichever way you can find and celebrate love I am here for it. Chella and John met via dating app and actually had “matched” a year prior to meeting in person. After eventually meeting there was no doubt that these two were a match made in heaven. It wasn’t until December 2019 that John popped the question on Christmas Day. This made the perfect ending to a pretty perfect year.

Merry-Go-Round Rock

If you’re not new here you would know that I am no stranger to Merry-Go-Round Rock. You can see some sunset portraits done with Cheska and Cody here. This beautiful trail leads to some of the most breathtaking red rock views. Seriously, I am blown away by it every single time. Merry Go Round Rock is a beautiful elopement location in Sedona for just about any time of day. However, the best time to visit Merry Go Round Rock is in the late afternoon. Let me say, golden hour here is on another level. This specific trail to go to Merry Go Round Rock is about 1.2 miles and circles this beautiful rock formation. Perfect for some out-of-this-world elopement photos, I’ll say.

Not only is Merry Go Round Rock a stunning elopement location, but it’s an adventure to get there as well. You will need to have a high-clearance vehicle or ATV/UTV in order to drive on the road to Merry Go Round Rock. So keep that in mind if you’re wanting to buckle up for an elopement adventure.

Chella & John’s Merry-Go-Round Rock Sedona Elopement Photos

Chella and John chose to have a Sedona elopement because it felt more fitting for their wants and needs for their wedding celebration. They wanted to have their wedding day be something special without all of the stress and high cost of a traditional wedding. While a courthouse wedding never quite felt like the right way for them to celebrate, they knew they wanted to do something. Something that focuses on just them and their connection and love. Chell and John love being able to hike or do outdoor activities, so naturally having this Merry Go Round Rock excursion was the perfect fit for their elopement wedding.

First Look at Hilton Sedona Resort

First, we began their day with a first look. A moment for John’s mind to be absolutely blown by how stunning Chella looked in her dress. Mission: accomplished. They got ready and had their first look a the Hilton Sedona Resort and these two were looking SUPER fine. Eventually, while we loved the beautiful scenery of the Hilton Sedona Resort, we knew it was our time to head to Merry Go Round Rock.

Intimate Sedona Elopement Ceremony at Merry Go Round Rock

As I mentioned before, getting to our destination elopement location took a bit of an excursion. However, thanks to Red Rock Rubicon, we were able to hop in a Jeep and make our way to the beautiful overlook that is Merry Go Round Rock. It was here that me, Chella, John, and their officiant, Brittany Shulla, stood as we watched Chella and John say their vows, exchange rings, and start their forever together. The sun was hitting JUST right this day and we celebrated with a classic champagne spray and toast overlooking the canyons.

While soaking in the scenery we were able to take some of the most epic elopement photos and end the night with a clear BANG. Also shoutout to my BF, Mike, who came along and took some beautiful drone shots! Tell me what you think!
