If you’re looking to elope in Sedona, Arizona but you’re not entirely sure how or where then you’ve come to the right place. I am an Arizona Elopement Photographer who has had a plethora of couples come searching for the perfect Airbnb for their Sedona elopement. They are wanting the work and trying to choose an Airbnb in Sedona can be tough work. You have to pick the perfect one, especially if you’re someone who values those dreamy wedding photos for your Sedona elopement. I’m giving you ALL the tips on how to choose an Airbnb in Sedona, Arizona for the dreamiest photos for your Sedona elopement.

Why Is Your Airbnb Important?

First things first, probably the question that is running through a lot of your minds right now is why is your Airbnb even important? Well, for most of you, your Airbnb will essentially be the central hub for your Sedona elopement. You will most likely be getting ready there, taking a lot of photos there, and even maybe going there for your post-elopement celebration. Whichever the case may be, if you fall under any of those categories then yes… your Airbnb absolutely matters.

If you’re planning on having photos taken at your Airbnb by your Sedona Elopement Photographer, then you absolutely need to have an Airbnb that fits your vibe. Not only because you want it to look nice, but you want it to be able to serve its purpose. Basically what I am trying to say is that the Airbnb that you choose for your Sedona elopement is very important.

How To Choose An Airbnb In Sedona, Arizona

If you’re wanting to elope in Sedona, then you’re going to need to follow some of these guidelines in finding your Sedona Airbnb.

Lighting Is Everything!

One of the most important things especially when it comes to finding the perfect Airbnb in Sedona is lighting. As an Arizona Elopement Photographer, I can attest that lighting can seriously make or break your images. Now that’s not to say that we can’t always use a good flash, however, if you’re wanting the best of the best images of you and your space then lighting will play a major role.

Choose a Sedona Airbnb with tons of natural light, windows, and accessible space for your Arizona Elopement Photographer to be able to photograph you. Trust me, you will thank us in the end when you get to see that dreamy sun peak in through your windows. It also serves as a great way to play around with shadows and get creative which is a major plus!

Separate Getting Ready Spaces & Enough Rooms

If you’re a couple wanting to have a first look or are waiting to see each other until your ceremony for your Sedona elopement, then I highly recommend getting an Airbnb in Sedona with enough rooms. You don’t want to accidentally peak at your partner while they are getting ready just because your Airbnb is small! Uh, no thanks! So if you’re wanting to splurge, make sure that you’re choosing an Airbnb with plenty of space so you don’t get a sneak peek before the first look or ceremony.

You also have the option of booking another Airbnb for your partner and that way you won’t have to worry about getting too big or too small of an Airbnb. This may cost you some more money, but in the end, may be completely worth it for your elopement experience.

Distance From Your Ceremony Location

This one is huge, but you’re going to want to make sure you get an Airbnb in Sedona that is a good distance from your ceremony location. The last thing that you want is to be stuck in loads amount of traffic or drive great distances just to get to your ceremony location. I mean you will need to drive back eventually and not really what you want to be doing on your wedding day.

If you’re looking to have a Sedona elopement and you have to drive through Downtown Sedona, be weary of this. March or October in Sedona can get very busy so you may need to add 20-30 minutes onto your drive due to traffic. Keep this in mind when it comes to booking your Sedona Airbnb. This is also why your photographer may also encourage you to include buffer time into your wedding timeline just in case this is an issue.

Neutral Interior

Ideally, this may be a preference thing, but you want to choose an Airbnb in Sedona with a neutral interior. That means neutral decor, furniture, flooring, walls, etc. This is because especially in photos, the last thing that you want is to clash with the Airbnb decor/interior design. You ideally want to be able to go anywhere throughout your Airbnb and get beautiful photos taken. I mean the most bang for your buck, right? That’s why I typically suggest couples pick an Airbnb with a more neutral look inside and you can always add pops of color with florals and/or props if you want it!

Photographable Interior & Exterior

Again, this may be a preference thing, however, I typically recommend my couples choose an Airbnb that is both photographable from the exterior and interior. Why you may ask? The main reason is to optimize your space and of course, get more photo locations! If you’re splurging on an Airbnb in Sedona you want to be able to fully utilize it. That means both the inside and outside. So when on your Sedona Airbnb search, ideally keep in mind the interior as well as the exterior and if they are photographable and in good condition.

Make Sure Your Airbnb Allows Guests | IMPORTANT

Most importantly, you want to make sure that your Airbnb allows guests and/or small gatherings. Many Airbnb’s will put in their rules that they don’t allow small gatherings or guests which can be a bummer if you’re wanting to have a Sedona elopement. Make sure that when you book your Airbnb that you take a look at their rules or you speak with the landlord to make sure it’s okay. The last thing you want is to get the party broken up or get fined for not following the rules of the Airbnb landlord!
