One of the last conversations I had with my ex husband was kinda interesting. We both agreed FIRMLY that if we ever got married again, we wouldn’t do the huge, invite everyone you know, get trapped under the weight of traditions type of wedding. We both felt that we had been pushed into the big wedding world without knowing that there are so many options.
I’d heard about people eloping, but I always pictured drive-by-wedding-in-Las-Vegas or run-away-with-your-lover-Lydia-Bennett-style. BUT THAT’S NOT WHAT ELOPEMENTS ARE.
Do think back to your wedding and wish you had had a more intimate, meaningful day? Without all the stresses of family and relatives and traditions, just a day you could focus on celebrating your love together? I thought there were no other options. I figured weddings were supposed to make everyone else (but the bride and groom) feel happy and loved.
Vow Renewal
Mecah and Matt didn’t elope on their wedding day. BUT, they did celebrate their one-year anniversary in a much more intimate way. They did a vow renewal. This’s an amazing option for the couples who didn’t elope, but still want a day to celebrate their love in a more intimate setting.
Matt and Mecah agreed to do a shoot with Rebecca Clark, of Cam and Beck Videos, on their one year anniversary. We wanted to make this shoot not just a day to get back into the dress and wedding clothes, but to have fun together and have a special moment in a quiet, beautiful place.
To celebrate their vow renewal, they decided to bake a cake themselves. And of course they used the same flavors from their original wedding cake: chocolate, strawberry, lemon, and white.
Um HELLO. Matt and Mecah made this in-home session ADORABLE. Stay tuned for Part 2 of this series to find out how the cake was decorated!
Cake batter fights: always a good idea.
So are tickle fights
Pro tip: doggos help bake great cakes.
Stay tuned for the other two parts of this blog.
Matt and Mecah baked their cake, what’s next?? THE VOWS. Stay tuned for when we head up north to Flagstaff to renew the vows.
