Chris and Katie decided to travel from Tennessee to elope in Sedona, amongst the red rocks.
Check out how their day went!
Boho was definitely the vibe of this elopement. Katie decided she wanted to wear both a hat AND a veil at their elopement. She wore the veil during the ceremony, and then halfway through the couples’ photos, switched to the hat. For those of you who are chronically undecided: just do both!
Katie and Chris both got ready in the same Airbnb in Sedona. Katie stayed in her room while Chris paced the entire rest of the house.
A note about me and grooms’ suits: I’ll love you forever if you wear a suit that is different than grey or black to your elopement. I’m a SUCKER for maroon.
You don’t have to do a first look at your elopement. But I’m never disappointed when we do. The anticipation up to this moment always makes for incredible memories.
Elopement ceremonies in Sedona can be very BRIGHT. Especially because I like to save couples photos for sunset. Ninety percent of the time, Sedona has no cloud cover. This makes planning for the weather easy, but just beware that your outdoor ceremony in Sedona will most likely be in direct sunlight. I love that Chris wore his sunglasses!
Most of my elopement couples choose to sign their marriage license on the trail during the ceremony. There usually aren’t any tables to write on, so we get creative.
If you wonder if you can elope with friends present, my answer is ABSOLUTELY. Just make sure to only include the people who are there to support you.
This is one of my all-time favorite spots in Sedona. In order to get here, you have to have a high-clearance, four wheel drive vehicle. It is one of the bumpiest roads I have ever been on, but absolutely worth the drive. The view of Sedona is impossible to beat. The rock formations make for some of the best images, although it is good to be mindful of heights while you’re here.
We finished this boho elopement as the sun went behind the horizon by driving back to Sedona my Tacoma, ready for pizza that the others had waiting for us at the Airbnb.
