I’m an Arizona Elopement Photographer who has always fallen in love with the idea of a wedding day that is a complete adventure. Over the years as an Arizona Elopement Photographer, I’ve had the opportunity to witness many beautiful love stories. Some more adventurous and some more chillax, both epic and absolutely stunning. Today’s love story, however, centers around Cheska and Cody. Two people came together to have a beautiful Sunset Sedona Elopement at Merry Go Round Trail. A day spent together from sunrise to sunset celebrating their love in an intimate and special moment.
Sunrise Vow Reading at Cathedral Rock
I am a firm believer that you can make your wedding day whatever you want to be. Go anywhere, do anything, and truly believe that the sky is the limit. For Cheska and Cody, they wanted their entire Sedona elopement to be one big adventure. Naturally, I was SO GAME. We first started off by taking a beautiful sunrise hike to Cathedral Rock here in Sedona, Arizona. Keep in mind that when it comes to getting the perfect lighting for a sunrise hike, timing is everything. However, don’t worry. I help you in creating the perfect timeline for your Sedona elopement so we can get all the juicy sun flares and beautiful angles.
When it comes to any hiking portion of an adventure elopement, I don’t recommend wearing your wedding attire. Since that can get pretty uncomfortable, pretty fast. So, Cheska and Cody geared up and hiked Cathedral Rock with me and their 10-year-old son by their side before getting to our peak destination spot. With a quick change into their wedding attire, Cheska and Cody divulged their first task: a first look. A beautiful and intimate moment between the two of them followed by a private reading of their vows. It was a beautiful moment to witness (from a distance) and gave them all of the intimacy and privacy that they needed for their Sedona elopement.
Cheska & Cody’s Sunset Sedona Elopement at Merry Go Round Trail
After getting some of the most stunning photos I have ever seen during the sunrise portion of their adventure elopement, we then made our way to destination #2. Cheska and Cody had rented a Jeep by Red Rock Rubicon to venture off-roading to drive to the Merry-Go-Round Trail. This is where their ceremony would take place with their parents and Cheska’s sister, who also officiated the ceremony.
Tip: This is the perfect way to include your family/friends in your intimate elopement. Setting aside time for just you and your partner, and inviting your close family and friends to witness your ceremony!
In a beautiful intimate ceremony, Cheska and Cody made their life-long commitment to one another. After the ceremony, they strapped on their backpacks and hung hand-made signs by Cheska which stated: “Just Married”. A cute and low-cost addition to their Sedona elopement which made things that much more special and INCREDIBLY Pinterest-worth in my book.
The entire day was spent celebrating Cheska and Cody and I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. From the 4 am wake-up call to the night-time celebratory champagne spray, everything was as perfect as I imagined it to be. Your Arizona elopement does not need to be done in one hour if you don’t want it to be. Make a whole day out of it doing the things that you enjoy with the people that you enjoy. THAT is what matters.
